What does DOULOS mean? 
In Biblical times, the Greek word DOULOS represented a slave who had obtained freedom, yet willingly continued to serve his master out of love and loyalty. The CBC DOULOS Ministry will challenge its members to become bondservants of Christ through:

• Coming up with “big ideas” for ministries at CBC
• Developing their big ideas into thriving ministries
• Ongoing management of their ministries by the Doulos Ministry Program

The DOULOS program is managed by CBC Elder Gary Massingill.  Gary will be your primary contact for ministry approval and its ongoing management. You can  

DOULOS ministries will be required to meet the following guidelines:

• Each lay ministry is the responsibility of the ministry owner to run; CBC pastors or staff are not expected to run the ministry.
• Each lay ministry must be compatible with CBC beliefs and values.
• Each lay ministry must raise its own funds as needed; CBC will not be expected to fund any aspect of the ministry.

How does the process work?
If you decide to start a ministry, here are the steps you'll need to take:

• You will need to complete a ministry questionnaire.  This questionnaire outlines information about your ministry and helps you think about your ministry.
• Once you compete the questionnaire, you will meet with the DOULOS Ministry Leader to review the ministry. 
• After reviewing your ministry, you and the DOULOS Ministry Leader will jointly decide if proceeding forward is appropriate. 
• If proceeding forward, you will need to complete a ministry plan and sign a covenant agreement.  The ministry plan helps you define your initial set of activities you plan on doing for the next year.  The covenant agreement helps to ensure you understand your responsibilities as a DOULOS lay ministry owner. 
• Once you complete the ministry plan and covenant agreement, you will meet with the DOULOS Ministry Leader and Jim Wright, Adult Ministries Pastor, to review your plans and covenant agreement. 
• After reviewing the plans and the covenant agreement, you, the DOULOS Ministry Leader and Adult Ministries Pastor will again decide if proceeding forward is appropriate.  If so, your ministry will be approved and you'll be off and running!
• Every three months you will be asked to meet with the DOULOS Ministry Leader to review your ministry, discuss any issues or challenges you're experiencing, and review your plans for the next three months.

Start a Ministry!                                                                                                                                                                                                             
Follow these simple steps to get your ministry going:

1. Send the DOULOS Ministry Leader an email with your intention to start a ministry and attach a picture of yourself to the email.
2. Download the ministry questionnaire, complete it, and send to the DOULOS Ministry Leader.  The DOULOS Ministry Leader will then contact you with some potential times to meet to review the questionnaire.
3. After you review the questionnaire with the DOULOS Ministry Lead, download the ministry plan and covenant agreement, complete both, and send to the DOULOS Ministry Leader.  The DOULOS Ministry Leader will then contact you with some potential times to meet to review the plan and covenant agreement.
